From there is where my journey began. As I continued to grow, I continued to enjoy and do my own crafts and drawings. One time, I even asked my parents for help to stable a drawing of mine to a background I created. They were busy and I grew impatient and did it myself. Needless to say, I wound up with a native American Indian stapled to my thumb. Art can be dangerous kids! proceed with caution!
When I attended middle school, I was a the top of my class in art. When it came to history and spelling though, well… let’s just say that was not my area of expertise. But I ALWAYS look forward to the art class and wanting to impress the teacher and my classmates. Then, a little fishie swam my way to lead my path. When Finding Nemo came out, not only was Ellen my role model and savior (and continues to be), but it was hands down the movie that stunned me. The water! The fish! how did they do it ?! I walked out of that theater wanting to be an animator and work for Pixar one day.
Then, off to the big leagues in High School! My HS was very well known for its theater arts. We actually, have had a lot of success from our school including some cast members from Glee! Theater is something else I highly enjoy and have been active in as well. But, I could only pick one speciality. I chose art.
I had a bunch of different electives and I really started to learn the different perspectives and trades of the art world. It fascinated me!! I couldn’t get enough. I joined every after school art club I could. Fashion, cartooning, craft… you name it, I did it.
As a teenager, I actually became really close to my art teachers as well. I would hang out with them after school to listen, talk, and learn. And not to brag, I was the favorite student and at the top of every one of my art classes *brushes off shoulder*.
Now to me, this was a big big deal because I’m not a book smart kind of person. I was never an “A student”. I was not dumb either… I was more of a “B” student with the occasional “C”. The thing is I worked really hard though! Studying and learning were very difficult to me. I now know it is because of the type of mind I have. I have a visual mind and that’s why art was so easy and freeing to me. So, when the “A’s” and “A+’s” started rolling in…I noticed that I belonged there. This was my area to concur.
Thank you for taking your time to read this.
